About Mark Gerretsen
Mark Gerretsen was elected Member of Parliament (MP) for Kingston and the Islands in 2015 and has since worked hard to grow our local economy, strengthen the middle class, and help our families and local communities thrive.

Born and raised in Kingston, Mark earned a degree in Economics from Queen’s and attended St. Lawrence for Computer Engineering. He currently lives in Kingston’s East end with his wife Vanessa and their children Mason, Frankie, and Vivian.

Mark previously served as a City Councillor and Mayor for Kingston, overseeing several key initiatives for the Kingston region. As MP, Mark has served on the Standing Committee for Environment, Standing Committee for National Defence, and as  Chair of the Ontario Liberal Caucus. Currently, Mark serves on the Standing Committee for Procedure and House Affairs and as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Leader of the Government in the House of Commons.

Recognizing that climate change is the most pressing challenge we face in the 21st century, Mark continues to be a strong voice and advocate for the environment. Mark will continue to take action to ensure that we build a cleaner world for future generations, and will continue to raise the issue in the House of Commons, at community events, and on his social media platforms."
